Vasco Ayyappa temple Utsavam underway


The annual Utsavam of Shree Ayyappa Temple, Vasco has commenced and will be celebrated till Monday, January 21 with the vedic/tantric poojas and rituals. Various cultural programmes will be staged during these days. A colourful procession (Shobayatra) with the idol of Lord Ayyappa accompanied by the famous panchavadyam, thalappoli of women dancing on folk songs will be routed through Vasco city on Monday, January 21, at 6 p.m.

There will be daily poojas and Kalasabhishekam held in the morning from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Deeparadhana, Sreebhothabali and Vilakkinnezhunnellippu in the evening from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. till January 20. Navagraha Prathishta Day will be observed on January 16, Devi Prathishta Day on January 17 and Prathishta Day on January 18.

Utsava Bali will be conducted on Sunday, January 20 in the morning from 9.30 a.m. and Pallivetta Ezhunnellippu from Sreekanteswara Temple, Gandhi Nagar will be held at night from 10 p.m.

Eight days of rituals will conclude on Monday, January 21 in the evening with Aarattu at 5p.m. followed by Shobayatra, Kodiyirakkam and Aarattu Kalasam night at 10.30 p.m. Parayidal (offering Paddy to Lord Ayyappa) will be conducted at the temple before the Kodiyirakkam.

Haippooyyam (special Abhishekam and poojas for Lord Karthikeya) will be conducted on Monday, January 21 in the morning from 9 a.m.

There will be various cultural programmes staged daily in the evening from 7.30 p.m. at the temple auditorium. A dance recital ‘Nrithasandya’ will be performed by Shiju and Sreekala Nambiar Group on Tuesday January 15. A cultural programme by Impana Kulkarni and Group on January 16; an entertainment programme by Ayyappa Devotees on January 17; a  cultural programme ‘Kaliyil  Alpam Karyam’ by Pranavam Entertainers on January 18 has been scheduled.  Moreover, a Sangeetha Nritha Mamangam by Lesha Mohandas & Group is also scheduled on January 19 and a dance drama Shabareenaadhan by Sasikala Sankaranarayanan & Group will be staged on Sunday, January 20.

Till January 21 a daily programme of keli / chendamelam / thayambaka / panchavadyam will be performed by Kottambally Raja Padmanabha Marar & Group. On January 21 a variety of folk dances will also be presented by Kulappada Chandran & Party from Parassala, Kerala.
