Sony launches Xperia R1 and R1 plus in India

Sony has launched two new mid-segment range smartphones in India - Xperia R1 and R1 Plus. The phones come with 5.2-inch HD 2.5D curved display. They are powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 with Adreno 505 GPU. The Sony Xperia R1 comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and R1 Plus comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The scope for expansion is 128GB using microSD support. The device runs on Android v7.1 Nougat edition and the company suggests that it will be upgraded to Oreo 8.0. Both phones are dual-SIM capable and have 13-megapixel rear camera sporting LED flash. The devices also have an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper with predictive hybrid auto focus. These devices come with 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C. The Sony Xperia R1 and R1 Plus are available in black and silver colours and are priced at `12,990 and `14,990, respectively. Both devices will be available across India from November 10.

OPPO F5 has been announced with 6-inch FHD-screen with 2.5D curved glass display. The phone also has a corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The screen resolution is of 2160 pixels x 1080 pixels. Powered by 2.5GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 processor coupled with Mali G71 GPU, this phone packs 4GB RAM with 32GB storage. The internal storage can be expanded up to 256GB using microSD. There is another variant of 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. The phone runs on Android v7.1 Nougat edition with colorOS 3.2. This dual SIM phone comes with a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 20-megapixel front-facing snapper. The OPPO F5 comes with support for fingerprint sensor. This phone supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS + GLONASS. The phone comes with 3200mAh built-in battery and colour options are gold, black and red (6GB RAM version).

Xiaomi is expected to announce Note 5A at an event in India on November 2. The phone is supposed to feature a 5.5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display with a resolution of 1280 pixels x 720 pixels. Powered by 1.4GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 435 mobile platform coupled with Adreno 505 GPU, this phone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. There is another variant of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device runs on Android v7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 9, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash. The phone would also feature fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor. On the network front it supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS / GLOASS. The battery in the phone is 3080mAh (typical). The company is yet to disclose the price in India.

WhatsApp is all set to launch message recall or delete feature in the coming update. A feature that’s been the most talked feature, it would help users stay away from embarrassments. Using this feature, you can recall a message not just from your phone but from your recipient’s phone too. However, you will have a seven-minute window to delete the message, after which you will be denied the deletion process. One of the catches here is that, you will not be notified if the message you recalled was successfully removed from recipients end or not. This update is only available for certain set of users and is expected to roll out soon as a service-side roll out.

Karbonn has launched a budget phone - Titanium Jumbo for the price of `6,490 in India. The phone comes in black and champagne colour options, and features a 5-inch HD display with a screen resolution is of 1280 pixels x 720 pixels. Powered by 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor, this phone runs on Android v7.0 Nougat. The other specifications include 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 64GB using microSD support. The phone supports dual-SIM and comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. The device also has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Network features include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 and GPS. The device’s battery is 4000mAh.

Vodafone takes on JioPhone by launching Micromax Bharat 2 ultra for the price of `999. The phone is 4-inches with WVGA display support and a screen resolution of 800 pixels x 480 pixels. The phone packs 1.3Ghz Quad-core spreadtrum processor coupled with 51MB RAM. The phone has 4GB internal storage with 32GB expandable scope using a microSD card. The device runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow and is of dual-SIM capability. On the optics side, the phone comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 0.3-megapixel front-facing VGA snapper. Network features include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 and GPS. The phone has 1300mAh battery.
