Salgaocar hammer FC Bardez
DULER: Salgaocar FC turned the tables on FC Bardez. After having lost 1-2 in their first meeting, the lads from Vasco thrashed the boys from Bardez 7-0 in the second leg of the Goa football Association (GFA) professional league at duller stadium on Monday.
After losing to Dempo SC 1-2 in their last league match coach Norbert Gonsalves made two changes in his starting line-up, giving a call to new signing Nigerian Keita Boubacar in the defense and Umesh Harijan in the midfield.
Football Club De Bardez , after their second successive defeat ,made two bringing in Krishnanath Shirodkar in the defense and Clinton Niasso upfront.
It was a total domination by the Green Brigade who pinned their opponents inside their territory and returned into the dressing room with a two goal cushion – with the goals coming from the header off Devendra Murgaonkar and striker Yinka Joel Sunday.
In the 26th minute, Salgaocar had the first crack at the goal when Joel Sunday latched a right footer from just inside the penalty box which was collected by Pink Brigade keeper after a fumble.
In the very next minute, a power-packed strike by Bardez Jessel Carneiro was blocked by keeper S. Rajini Kumar.
It was then Salgaocar who got hold of the match and scored two goals in the 23rd and 28th minutes.
A curling corner by James Fernandes was headed into the goal by Devendra Murgaonkar to open the floodgates, while minutes later Nigerian Yinka Joel Sunday collected a cross from the left flank by James and blasted the ball into the back of the nylons, 2-0.
On resumption of play, the Green Brigade carried on their onslaught and pumped in five more goals.
Three goals came in a fraction of six minutes. Devendra Murgaonkar netted his brace by heading the ball into the goal off a corner by Sanson Pereira, 3-0.
In the 54th minute Mackroy Peixote drilled a stinging 30-yard shot which hit the upright before entering the goal, 4-0.
Just two minutes later, Joel Sunday made it 5-0 as he tapped the ball into the goal after Devendra had done the spadework.
Joel Sunday scored his hat-trick from the penalty spot, after referee Savio Fernandes had awarded the Green Brigade a penalty after Agnelo Fernandes was brought down by the Bardez keeper Aliston Fernandes, 6-0.
Two more chances went in vain for the Green Brigade when Agnelo Fernandes shot hit the upright and then Aliston managed to pair Agnelo’s goal bound shot for a corner.
However, in the 93rd minute Agnelo finally got his name to the scorers list as he got hold off a through pass from Melvin Lobo and hammered the final nail into Pink Brigade’s coffin, 7-0.
