Churchill Brothers S C who stitched some good moves late into the second session following counter forays and reduced the margin through a penalty kick scored by striker Ismail Mohammad Sheikh.

Churchill Brothers SC could have lost by a much bigger margin had it not been for some brilliant exploits by their goal keeper Mansur Manki – the captain of the team who produced brilliant saves in both the sessions of play.

Churchill Brother SC’s defence looked vulnerable for the major part of the proceedings while the midfield was non-existent. As such, they could not produce any worthwhile moves to threaten the rival goal.

Salgacoar FC went into the lead in the very fourth minute of play when Flan passed the ball to unmarked Ashnoy who crashed the ball to the far corner of the rival nets, giving no chance at all to keeper Mansur.

Thereafter, Ashnoy ran solo and sent a 25 yard curling shot which he dispatched to the top corner of the nets. Ashnoy was at it again when he completed his hat trick on receiving a good pass from Flan who danced in the middle and then fed Ashnoy to do the damage to the rival goal.

Flan thereafter found the mark after a great move from the centre circle to make it 4-0 in favour of Salgaocar. Just a few minutes before half time, Salgacoar FC initiated another great move which saw Salvador Gama sending the ball angularly to the far corner of Churchill Brothers FC nets.

The match slowed down in the second session, during which time, Churchill Brothers who were left licking their wounds tried to rise up and fight back with some sting left in them but not before Salgaocar FC scored their 6th goal through Hayden Fernandes who sent a powerful header to the far corner of rival nets off a flag kick taken by Rui Noronha, the captain of the team.

Churchill Brothers SC launched some moves in the last few minutes of play and their efforts paid off when Ismail won a penalty kick after he was brought down by a Salgacaor FC defender inside the box.

Ismail Shaikh himself stepped up to take the penalty shot who blasted it in past the Salgaocar F C keeper.
