Rs 3.4 cr robbery in Gujarat: absconder caught in Quepem
Quepem police have arrested a person who was reportedly absconding in a robbery case of Rs 3.4 crore that had taken place in Gujarat.
Reliable sources informed that after the said robbery, the Gujarat police had arrested a person based on a CCTV footage while another person was absconding. However, through mobile phone location, the Gujarat police managed to trace the absconder to Goa in Quepem area.
The Gujarat police provided this information to SP (South) Arvind Gawas and, under his guidance, the DySP of Quepem Uttam Raut Dessai with the help of Quepem police launched a search for the alleged accused. On Tuesday night, the police found a luxury car with Karnataka number plate parked on the road in front of a bungalow near forest rest house at Borimol-Quepem.
When the police enquired with the owner of the bungalow about the car, he told them that some of his guests had arrived from Karnataka. Suspecting something amiss, Quepem PI Brutano Peixoto along with his staff entered the bungalow and found three persons sitting in one of the rooms.
On questioning, it was found that one of them was Narayan Sanyal from Mangalore, wanted by the Gujarat police in connection with the above robbery. The police arrested the trio and on Wednesday they were produced before the JMFC in Quepem. It is learnt that the above three persons will again be produced before the JMFC on Thursday and then they will be handed over to Gujarat police who have already arrived in
