Take a walk down the memory lane of Indian cinema as ‘Soul of Indian Cinema Season 2: The best of V Shantaram’ will be held on May 1 at Kala Academy.

The musical event will dwell on the songs from films by director and producer late Shantaram. The singers in performance will be Bindya Vasta, Chiraag Tripathi, Akashada Talaulikar, Aniket Daddikar, Akshata Ramnathkar, and Sagar Naik. They will be accompanied by musicians like Rudresh Fondekar, Subhash Faterpekar, Santosh Gurav, Snehal Jadhav, Bhushan Rahate, Taranah Holegadde, Paresh Kultwalikar, and Kedar Gulavani. Maryada Kulshreastha from Delhi will also give a classical dance performance.

“Shantaram was a man who changed Indian cinema. He focused on every aspect of the film and each of these had a message for society,” said Asha Velingkar of Kutumb Events, which is putting together this show.

The show promises to be an informative programme about the journey of V Shantaram in the film industry.

She also mentioned that although these films are old, it has been observed that a lot of these events which focus on the days of yore have in attendance a lot of youngsters.

Alongside this, tiatrist John Da Silva will also be releasing his new tiatr. The first show will be at 3 p.m. This will be followed by the music event at 7 p.m. While the tiatr has tickets, the music show is free and open to all.

The concept and event is hosted by proprietor of Kutumb events, Nilesh Yeshwant Faterpekar.
