Around 624 Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel, including 600 constables, 16 police sub-inspectors and 8 police inspectors left for Telangana from Goa by a special train from Vasco railway station on Thursday evening in order to discharge duties for the Lok Sabha election.

Although the state of Goa is facing shortage of staff during emergencies and also in view of scheduled Lok Sabha election to be held on April 23, serious concern has arisen over the dispatch of huge number of IRB personnel to other states. It is learnt that the IRB staff, who left for Telangana from Goa, will also be sent to other states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Bihar, Karnataka and Kerala for duties in view of Lok Sabha elections.

The IRB batch consists of 8 companies, including 600 constables, 16 police sub-inspectors and 8 police inspectors. The special train left from Vasco railway station at 6 pm and it is expected to reach Telangana by late evening on Friday.
