Goa lose to Manipur

PANAJI: Goa suffered a 0-4 loss to Manipur in the All India Football Federation’s Hero Junior Girls National Football Championship held at Kolhapur, on Monday. After managing to hold their opponents for half-hour mark, Goa conceded when Manipur striker saw Goa goalkeeper Mamta leaving her goal and smartly lobbed the ball to take 1-0 lead. Goa soon conceded a penalty when Sujatha accidently handled the ball in the box and the referee pointed straight to the spot. Manipur player coolly converted from the spot. In the second half, Manipur scored two more goals. Goa will play their final group fixture against Uttarakhand on April 24.

Cortalim Villagers secure win

CANSAULIM: Cortalim Villagers scored a narrow 2-1 win over UYC Bogmalo in the GFA’s Second Division League match played at Cansaulim ground, on Monday. All the goals were scored in the second session. Fernandes gave Cortalim the lead in the 56th minute but Bogmalo came with a quick response and made it 1-1 through Antonio. Finally, in the dying minutes of the game R Pereira scored the match-winner for Cortalim.

AFC goalkeeping course begins at Fatorda

FATORDA: The AFC Goalkeeping Level 1 Course, organised by AIFF in collaboration with GFA, began at Fatorda on Monday. In all 22 participants including three from Goa, five from Karnataka, four from West Bengal, three from Kerala, five from Maharashtra and one each from HP and Pondicherry are attending the six-day in-house course.
