St Rock’s enter Seraulim Cup semis

SERAULIM: St Rock’s Youth Club, Majorda entered the semifinals of Seraulim Panchayat Cup Football Tournament defeating St Sebastian Union, Benaulim 2-0 played at Seraulim grounds on Saturday. St Rock’s Youth Club went into the lead following a good build up in the middle by attacking medio Kevin Almeida who sliced a brilliant pass to Russel Monteiro who banged it in past St.Sebastian keeper in the 18th minute. Controlling both the sessions of play St Rock’s Youth Club proved to be a dominant side and buttressed their lead in the 56th minute when Russel completed his brace.

Betalbatim beat Cansaulim

RAIA: Betalbatim Sporting entered the quarterfinals defeating CAC, Cansaulim 6-5 via the tie breaker played at panchayat grounds,Raia on Saturday. The teams played a goalless draw during the regulation time. In the tie breaker, Betalbatim SC proved to be the better shooters, scoring accurately through Jesus F, Clifford Miranda, Dilumus Anta, Dylan Rodrigues, Ronaldo Coelho and Klushner Pereira. CAC, Cansaulim could find the mark only through Prasad Bagli, Roshwel Figueredo, Arron Fernandes, Chedwick Furtado and Veron Ferrao.

Raia thrash Mormugao to enter final

NAGOA: Raia SC entered the final of Nagoa Panchayat Cup football tournament defeating Mormugao SC 5-0  played at Nagoa panchayat grounds on Saturday. The highlight of the match was the hattrick scored by Lloyd Cardozo in favour of Raia SC. At half time the winners were leading 3-0. Raia scored two more goals in the second session through Eldon Colaso and Denny Fernandes.

Nerul pip Pax of Nagoa

KAKODA: UC Nerul entered the quarterfinlals of Holy Cross Cup football tournament defeating Pax of Nagoa 6-5 via the tie breaker played at Kakoda grounds, Curchorem on Saturday. The teams played a goalless draw during the regulation time.

Leon felicitated by CM Sawant

PANJIM: International Master Leon Luke Mendonca, Fide Rating 2427, was felicitated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for creating a world record of achieving all his three IM norms and title within a record breaking span of 17 days at a tender age of 12 years. Leon went on to achieve an additional IM norm at the HD Bank Grandmasters Open Chess Championship held in Vietnam between March 7 – 13.
