In solidarity and prayer

Adhering to the request of the president of CCBI (Conference of Catholic Bishops of India) Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao to observe a day of prayer and solidarity with the people and the Church of Sri Lanka, the Pallotti Home community and the UAC (Union of Catholic Apostolate) members held an hour of adoration followed by the Holy Eucharist and a candle-light procession in Chicalim. The mass was celebrated by the provincial of the ABVM Province of the Pallottines, Fr Pedro Camilo Simoes SAC.

During the sermon, Fr Simoes quoted St Faustina who had said that there shall be peace in the world and we ought not to worry about it, as God is with us. He added that each member of the community must first realise that they are sinners, make a good confession and strive to become a new creation in the Lord.

A large crowd attended the Divine Mercy of the Lord that followed. The gathered faithful, who consisted of people in and around the villages of Vasco, Mapusa and Margao along with 30 elderly members from ‘Our Home’ old age home in Bogmalo prayed for the victims of the multiple bomb blasts in Sri Lanka and also for the terrorists that they may realise their shortcomings.

The candle-light procession witnessed large numbers praying for the departed souls of the tragedy on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka, and also for peace and harmony in the world.

Rector of Pallotti Home, Fr Frank Jack Pinto SAC; Fr Alex Crasta SAC; Fr Peter Mendes SAC; administrator, Fr Joswalt Rodrigues SAC; prefect of students, Fr Avinash Mascarenhas SAC; and vocation promoter for Pallottines in Goa, Fr Carlos Luis SAC were also present.
