Houses of eminent Goans on display
As a part of Museum Week, secretary of Museum, Rupesh Kumar Thakur inaugurated the photography exhibition ‘Houses of eminent Goans’ at Adil Shah Palace. The exhibition is a collection of 35 houses belonging to eminent personalities who are no longer alive. The list of eminent Goans include Juliao Menezes, Kesarbai Kerkar, Malbarao Sardesai, Antonio Francisco Xavier Alvares, St Joseph Vaz, Dada Vaidya, Dharmanand Kosambi, TB Cunha, Abbe Faria and many others.
Speaking on the occasion director, Goa State Museum, Radha Bhave said: “There were many houses and it was a hectic task to find out about them, and go there and click pictures. The people belong to different fields like art and culture, medicine, literature, freedom fighters and others. We also have two lectures as a part of museum week where in assistant professor at Goa College of Architecture, Noah Fernandes will deliver a lecture. A painting competition for primary students will also be held.”
Appealing to the people, Thakur said that people will get to know more about eminent people and their homes if they visit the exhibition.
