Retro vibes: Don Bosco College, Panaji will be hosting ‘Meteora 2K18’; an inter collegiate mega event on December 6 and 7 at the Don Bosco Oratory, Panaji. NOESIS 2018: Department of Computer Applications of Rosary College, Navelim will organise a youth oriented national level information technology festival NOESIS 2018, for colleges across Goa and neighbouring states from December 8 to 10 at the college campus.

 

Exhibition and sale: Find great treasures for this season at the exhibition cum sale of handmade items on December 7 and 8, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Xanthus Institute, Porvorim.

 

Consumer meet: The Velim Civic and Consumer Forum (VCCF) will have its monthly general meeting of consumers on December 9, 10: 30 am at St. Xavier’s High School, Velim.

 

Star making competition: Ravindra Bhavan Margao will organise a star making competition. Interested participants should submit their names to this office before December 17 during office hours. The star should be at least 2 and half feet in height, made from environment friendly material. The prizes for the competition include: 1st prize: `5,000; 2nd prize: `4,000; 3rd Prize: `3,000; 3 consolation prizes: `2000 each. Every participant will be provided `500 towards making charges of the star and the star shall be handed over to and will remain property of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao

 

Crib competition: The Directorate of Art and Culture is organising the state level crib competition from December 26 to 31 in two categories i.e. Institutions/Group (Cribs made by institutions, clubs, parishes or by a group of people) and Individuals/Household (Cribs made at a house or beside the house by an individual or within a family.) Application forms are available from November 22 at Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Ravindra Bhavan-Margao, Ravindra Bhavan-Curchorem and Ravindra Bhavan,Baina-Vasco. Last date for submission is December 11.

 

Science matters: The travelling exhibition ‘Light Matters’ is on till December 31 at Goa Science Centre and Planetarium. Details: 2463426.

 

 

ART AND CULTURE

Awash in colour: ‘Abstract Reality’, an art exhibition by Sunil Kakodkar and Leandra Rodrigues will be held from December 6 to 8 at Black Box, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

 

Festival of carols: Kala Academy Goa will organise the festival of carols on December 13 at the DMK Hall, Kala Academy. Entries forms will be available at the office and the last date of submission is December 7.

 

Christmas concert: Child’s Play India Foundation presents ‘Joy to the World’, a Christmas concert featuring the Child’s Play chorus, Camerata Child’s Play India and Trio Frangipani, on December 8, 6 p.m. at Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji. Donation passes at Furtados Music stores, and also at the door just before the concert.

 

Night of carols: Sunaparanta – Goa Centre for the Arts will host `A Night of Carols with The Natal Singers’ conducted by Nayantara de Lima Leitao on December 8, 6.30 p.m. onwards. This concert is in aid of Sethu-Centre for Child Development and Family Guidance. Details: 2421311/info@sgcfa.org.

 

Tree lighting: The tree lighting ceremony by Novotel Goa Dona Sylvia Resort will be held on December 8, 5 p.m. onwards at the lobby. This will be followed an evening of cocktails at Amalia, the poolside bar while the chefs will curate delectable buffet spreads with live cooking stations at Seagull, the all day dining restaurant.

Affordable art: The Goa Affordable Art Fest will begin on December 8, 6.30 p.m. at Museum of Goa, Pilerne.

 

An evening of reading: An evening of readings by authors and poets, a fundraiser in support of ARZ and victims of human trafficking will be held on December 9, 6.30 p.m. at Carpe Diem, Majorda.

 

Cultural day: Taught to Teach School of Music Art and Dance in association with the Directorate of Art and Culture will organise the 21st Annual Cultural Event Day on December 9, 5.30 pm. at DMKM Hall Kala Academy, Panaji.

 

Art and dance: Natural dye artist Ruby Jagrut will collaborate with kathak dancers Ishira Parikh and Maulik Shah for an evening of art and dance inspired by women featured in the Indian epic Mahabharata on December 9, 7.30 p.m. at The Project Cafe, Assagao.

 

Singing competition: The first All Goa Singing Competition and New Year celebration organised by Friends Circle Club Latambarce and Mala Youth Club, Panaji in collaboration with Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji will be held on January 6, 2019, 3 p.m. onwards. Auditions for the competition will be held on December 12 at Hanuman Temple, Mala-Panaji. Prizes for senior boys and girls category are `15000, `10000, `5000 and consolation prize of `2000.
