Fatorpa comes alive with zatra of Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin
The annual zatrotsav of Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin is being celebrated at Fatorpa. The six-day zatra which began on January 11 is unique as the deity of the goddess is carried on various raths. The zatra is held during paushya shuddha panchami up to dashmi of the Hindu calendar. The beauty of this zatra is the procession of the deity on various chariots which include the elephant chariot (ambari), a flower chariot (fulancho rath), vijay rath and finally on the maharatha on the fourth day.
Every year numerous devotees visit the temple during the days of the zatra. People offer prayers, make vows or come to offer thanksgiving for favours granted by the deity. During the six-day festival several religious ceremonies like puja and maha abhishek are performed along with cultural activities.
