Curtorim fight hard for place in final

Curtorim Gymkhana entered the final of Martins Cup football tournament defeating Ambelim SC 4-3 via the tie breaker played at panchayat grounds, Betalbatim on Thursday. The teams played a 1-1 draw during the regulation time.

Ambelim SC went into the lead through Nial Cardozo, but then Curtorim Gymkhana came back strongly and levelled the score through Milagres Fernandes.

As the teams were involved in a dead-lock, the tie breaker system had to be adopted to decide the winners in which Curtorim Gymkhana proved to be better shooters scoring accurately through Milagres Fernandes, Macwil Fernandes and Fredie Hilario.

Curtorim Gymkhana keeper Johnshon Bhagat proved to be the hero of the team as he saved three penalty shots in the shoot out.

Curtorim Gymkhna will now meet Navelim Sporting in the finals scheduled to be played on January
20.
