While speaking to the stakeholders, Kamakshi Pai, general manager NABARD urged locals to go back to agriculture which was the basic occupation of our ancestors. “Even the ministry of agriculture has its mission and vision focused on doubling the farmer’s income and increasing the cash flow available to them” says Pai. She also disclosed that according to a rural survey conducted by NABARD the agricultural income for the rural household increased by 40 percent in the year 16-17.
