Behind the lens
CollegeScapes 2019, a two-day state level photography workshop was organised by SV Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management Studies, Khorlim, Mapusa for the fourth successive year. 57 students from colleges across Goa (including the host college) attended the workshop. The workshop was held in association with Nikon India Private Limited.
The chief guest of the inaugural function was photo journalist, Rajtilak Naik. Speaking on the occasion, Rajtilak reminisced about his experience as a photographer and how photography has changed since its introduction in the 19th century.
The formal inauguration was followed by technical sessions by mentor, Nikon India Private Limited Naveen Krishnan on ‘Portrait Photography’ and ‘Landscape Photography’.
As a part of the workshop, a photo contest was also organised on the theme: ‘Water – The Elixir of Life’, where participants used their imagination to depict various aspects and events related to the theme.
The first place was won by Sharan S Sawant from Government College, Sanquelim; the second place was given to Pratiksha Prabhudesai from Nirmala Institution of Education and the third place was awarded to Suyash Mapari from Government College, Sanquelim. Sachin Naik from GVM’s GGPR College, Ponda won consolation prize. Participation certificates were given to all participants.
The chief guest for the valedictory function was NN Pai of Ideal Labs, and the guest of honour was Vivek Kokamthankar, Nikon India Private Limited.
The second day saw a photo walk organised in the Mahavir Park, Panaji where the practical aspects of photography were demonstrated by NN Pai of Ideal Labs and Antonio Pacheco of Studio7. During the outdoor session students were asked to apply the theory imparted during the workshop session to the given subject.
