A fest for literature lovers

Literature festival ‘Novella Fest 2019’ was held at International Centre Goa, Dona Paula. It was organised by Novella Short Stories in association with Directorate of Art and Culture Government of Goa. The main aim of the fest was to enable participants to interact with authors.

Many renowned authors and publishers like Damodar Mauzo, Frederick Noronha, Gajanan Jog, Anita Pinto, Rochelle Pereira, Wilfred Goes, Nisha Sanghvi, Sunita Bansdawala, Pravin Sabnis, Sonia Sabnis, Jade D’sa, Inacio Fernandes and others were a part of the panel discussion. The panellists dwelled on many aspects related to writing namely, ‘Why encourage writing among youngsters?’, ‘Writing opportunities for youngsters’, ‘Looking for a story’ and ‘Local Authors and Vernacular Literature’.

The event was attended by over 100 students from schools in Goa and other states. There was also an exhibition by local publishers and bookstores.

The results of the National level Short-Story Writing Contest 18-19 were also announced at the event. In the junior category first place was won by Mahi Sanghvi for ‘The Mysterious woodlands’, second place was won by Veer Shah for ‘The Mother’s tears of Joy’ and third place was won by H Nideesh for ‘Heist of the Pink’.

In the youth category first place was won by Mathiraj for ‘Perspective’, second place was won by Snigdha Soti for ‘The Power of Determination’ and third place was won by Rithanya Gopu for ‘Serendipity – A Happy Chance’.

In the senior category first place was won by Reena Kahlon for ‘Unsung, Unknown’, second place was won by Sunita Banasdwala for ‘The Traumatic Surgery’ and third place was won by Natasha Wheeler for ‘A Refreshing Rendezvous’.

The contest saw over 500 entries from across the country, out of which 300 stories were selected and published on Novella.co.in.
