1 held in theft case
MARGAO: Konkan railway police have arrested one person from Kerala who had committed theft of a hand bag containing cash, mobile and other documents.
The police said that while on rounds at Madgaon Railway Station, inspector of Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained Bhagyaraj A (28) of Paramppuram-Ernakulam, Kerala on suspicion during departure of Mangala Express at platform 1.
Later, upon search, a handbag was found in his possession, the police said adding he was brought to RPF post Margao.
Later, a lady passenger of Mangala Express called 182 security’s helpline informing that her hand bag was missing from her berth in S/2 coach of the said train.
The passenger Sheeja Varghese of 132 LIG Flats, Hastsal, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi stated that theft might have happened in the train.
The bag description was found to match with that of bag found with the detained person.
Her Aadhar card, PAN card, cash Rs 1120, and a mobile all worth of Rs 13,000 were found in the bag.
The detained person and the recovered property was handed over to Konkan Railway Police, Margao.
Konkan railway police registered a case under section 379 of the IPC.
